1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

For All Users:

Phone Number (required for registration, authentication, M-Pesa payments, and communication)
Device Information (FCM tokens, device type, app version)

For Hunters Only:

Full name
Email address
Profile photo
Bio/description
Years of experience
Coverage areas
Wallet information
Performance metrics

1.2 Hunt and Transaction Data

When you create or participate in a hunt, we collect:

Hunt details (county, areas, budget range, bedrooms, house type, move-in date, notes)
Payment information (M-Pesa transaction details, amounts, timestamps, status)
Hunt status (draft, active, completed, cancelled, disputed)
Assignment information (hunter assignments, timestamps, acceptance status)

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

Location Data: We do NOT collect GPS coordinates or track real-time location
Contact Lists: We do NOT access your phone's contact list
Messages: We do NOT monitor or store WhatsApp or phone call content
Financial Account Details: We do NOT store M-Pesa PIN or full account credentials

2. How We Use Your Information

To Provide and Improve Our Services:

Account management and authentication
Hunt matching between seekers and hunters
M-Pesa payment processing and escrow management
Push notifications for hunt updates
Communication facilitation between matched users
Dispute resolution

To Comply with Legal Obligations:

Maintain transaction records for accounting and tax purposes
Fraud prevention and platform security
Respond to lawful requests from authorities

3. How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

With Other Users (Limited):

When a seeker and hunter are matched, we share:

Hunter's name, profile photo, bio, and phone number with the seeker
Seeker's phone number and hunt details with the hunter
Hunter reviews and ratings are visible to all users

With Service Providers:

For authentication, process payments and communication. Some of these service providers are: Safaricom, AWS and Google

4. Data Retention

Active Accounts: Retained while your account remains active
Inactive Accounts: May be deactivated after 24 months of inactivity
Account Deletion: Personal information deleted within 30 days of request
Financial Records: Retained for 7 years as required by Kenyan regulations
Reviews: Permanent and cannot be deleted to preserve platform integrity

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted using HTTPS/TLS protocols
Encryption at Rest: Sensitive data encrypted in our database
Secure Authentication: JWT tokens with limited expiry
Access Controls: Only authorized personnel access personal data

Access and Correction:

Request a copy of your personal information or update your profile directly in the app.

Deletion:

Email hauzhunter@kindertec.co.ke to request account deletion (completed within 30 days).

Marketing Opt-Out:

Disable push notifications in your device or app settings at any time.

Data Portability:

Request your data in JSON or CSV format for transfer to another service.

7. Children's Privacy

HauzHunter is NOT intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. You must be at least 18 years old to use HauzHunter, as M-Pesa transactions require users to be 18+ under Kenyan law.

8. Kenya-Specific Privacy Provisions

As a Kenyan company, we comply with the Data Protection Act, 2019 and regulations issued by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or email. The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
